Diet Rendah Kalori, Kunci Hidup Sehat Lebih LamaAging was bound to happen to everyone. However, it turns with a low calorie diet, this aging process can be slowed. How can it be?

Aging on the body's cells is associated with the shortening of telomeres. Telomeres are the ends of DNA that keep the body's cells alive. Naturally, the body's cells will have cleavage to regenerate. However, unfortunately, each time experiencing division, the telomere will be getting shorter. If at some point, this shortening process occurs continuously, cell death will be quick with the result that shorten a person's age. That the shorter the telomere is also associated with increased risk of developing diseases such as dementia or senility old to be 100 times larger and higher death rates from cancer and heart disease (2).
Inside our bodies, there is the enzyme telomerase which helps to elongate the telomere tip it back so the body's cells alive. However, unfortunately, increasingly increasing age the amount of this enzyme will also decrease. Stress that we experience also led to decreased telomerase activity and telomeres shorten more rapidly (4).
A study published in Rejuvenation Research in 2009 to prove the results of his research that the decrease in body weight and amount of fat with low-calorie diet in men who are obese is associated with increased telomere length. In these studies, demonstrated that people with weight loss and fat mass have the greatest greatest increase in telomere length (3). So in that study concluded that people who do low-calorie diets result in weight loss that affect telomere length and reduce DNA damage.
Another study in The Lancet Oncology provides results that people who make lifestyle changes by eating low-fat diet (low-fat diet) and a walk at least 30 minutes each day has increased telomerase activity and telomere length. In addition, good stress management is also important, because in these studies, it is evident also that in addition to low-fat diet and regular exercise, lower stress levels can help to increase telomere length (5).
Calories we asup everyday can come from carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Based on these studies, by limiting the calories we eat everyday will affect telomere length increases, so will prolong the life and old age. Therefore, it helps us begin to live a healthy life by maintaining food intake, exercise, and manage stress in order to live healthier longer.
